My Time Capsule

Updated: Feb 22, 2025

It’s been said that the contents inside a woman’s purse tell you everything you need to know about her. So, I invite you to explore the time capsule that is my purse. Grip its tattered handle, unzip it carefully, and reach inside if you dare. But be warned—you might get lost in its depths.

First, you’ll find a small, unassuming 1.25-ounce tube of Aquaphor. A multifunctional tool, it’s a reminder to take care of oneself. With every twist of its cap, it heals, protects, and shines. An extension of myself, it’s always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. It’s unassuming but undeniably powerful, present in every bag I carry.

Next, you’ll encounter navy-blue shoelaces, worn from years of use. These laces are from my first-ever college volleyball match. They’re not just tied to sweat and competition; they symbolize sacrifices and perseverance. Whether kept in my bag out of superstition or a tribute to my past, these laces are a constant reminder of where I’ve been and what I’ve achieved.

Finally, a small but significant item—a décimo, a Spanish lottery ticket. In Spain, buying a décimo isn’t just about winning money; it’s about community. When one person wins, everyone shares in its profits. This ticket represents my desire to succeed with others, not just for myself.

Though you may leave my purse with a small paper cut, you’ll carry with you the essence of who I am—caring, resilient, and communal.
